Phil Stockton – Director
Phil Stockton is an award-winning actor and educator whose career spans decades of professional performance and community-centered instruction. Trained at Wesleyan University and the Abbey Theatre in Dublin, he has performed in world-premiere and classical productions at prestigious venues including the Magic Theatre, the American Conservatory Theater (A.C.T.), PCPA Theatrefest, and the Aurora Theatre. His artistic achievements have been recognized with multiple Dramalogue Critics Awards for his work in Burn This and Good, as well as a Santa Barbara Independent Award for Best Actor. In addition to his stage work, he has appeared in various television projects for major networks such as ABC, Fox and HBO.
Parallel to his acting career, Stockton is a respected
practitioner in the field of arts-based rehabilitation and social justice. He has directed and facilitated intensive theater programs within the correctional system, including recent work at Wallkill and Woodbourne Correctional Facilities in New York, as well as San Quentin in California. Notably, during his tenure at Oregon State Penitentiary, he oversaw original productions such as The Bucket, which received a first-place national PEN America award for Prison Writing. Through his work with organizations like Rehabilitation Through the Arts (RTA), he utilizes improvisation, storytelling, and play creation to foster personal transformation and growth in both adult and juvenile facilities.
